Possible drowning at Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach emergency responders are reporting a possible drowning in the resort city.

Police said they received a 911 call around 1 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found the adult male was not moving in the water and drifting away from shore.

Lifeguards brought the man ashore and medical personnel attempted to revive him. He was pronounced dead at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

The death occurred near 24th Street.
