Joint funeral for 2 sisters killed in Va. wreck

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. — A joint funeral is scheduled for two sisters who died from injuries suffered when the car they were riding in went into the Chickahominy River.

Obituaries posted on Nelson Funeral Home’s website say the funeral for 27-year-old Jessica Gallmeyer and 15-year-old Amanda Brooke Irby will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hanover Church of Nazarene in Mechanicsville.

Gallmeyer died Thursday at VCU Medical Center, a day after Irby died.

They were passengers in a vehicle that went into the river last Monday night during a chase.

Police say an officer tried to stop the vehicle because it was being driven erratically.

Police charged the driver, 23-year-old Andrew Taylor Walker of Mechanicsville, with felony eluding, second-offense driving on a suspended license and providing false information to a police officer.
