Woman charged in deaths of 2 children gets bond

RICHMOND, Va. — Bond has been granted to Prince George County woman accused of killer her two children by leaving them in a hot car while she worked in a suburban Richmond hotel.

Henrico Circuit Court Judge Gary Hicks set bond Wednesday for 22-year-old Brittney Rochelle Downing at $65,000 for each of two counts of felony murder.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports he also set conditions, such as ordering Downing to remain with her parents.

According to police, Downing left her children in her car for much of the work day May 26. One child died at Downing’s apartment, while another died days later at a hospital.

Both died of heat-related causes.
