PIPESTEM (AP) — Volunteers are being sought to help with a census of bald and golden eagles in southern West Virginia.

The fifth annual eagle survey will be conducted Saturday along the New River and its major tributaries.

Volunteers must contact Pipestem Resort State Park Naturalist Jim Phillips before Wednesday’s registration deadline at (304) 466-1800.

Phillips says the number of bald eagles spotted has grown from nine to 19 in recent years.
