Body found in Bluewell sent to medical examiner for answers

BLUEFIELD DAILY TELEGRAPH (BLUEFIELD, W.V.)

BLUEWELL, W.Va. — The death of a local man who was discovered outdoors Wednesday morning in the Bluewell area is being examined by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.

Gregory Keith Kinzer, 26, of Route 4, Bluefield was found at approximately 4:30 a.m. along the road near his residence in the New Bluewell Road area, said Lt. Joe Parks.

Kinzer did not appear to have any obvious injuries, Parks said.

“Circumstances were found to be suspicious and this is under investigation,” he said. “Foul play has not been ruled out.”

Parks did not know how Kinzer was discovered, but he said the body had been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in South Charleston.

“The usual protocol is to send the body to the State Medical Examiner when the cause of death is undetermined,” Parks said. If the cause of death is determined to be foul play, the case will be forwarded to the sheriff department’s detective bureau.
