BASEBALL TRIP

PRINCETON — The Princeton Rays are accepting reservations for their 9th annual Major League Baseball Bus Trip, this year to Cincinnati’s Great American Ballpark on Saturday, May 11. The Reds play the Milwaukee Brewers in a 4:10 p.m. afternoon game. The air-conditioned bus will leave Hunnicutt Field at 8 a.m. A stop in Beckley is planned for those in that area who are going on the trip. A short meal stop will take place en route to Cincinnati. The bus will return to Princeton immediately following the game. Cost is $100 per person and includes all transportation fees and game ticket. The first 30,000 people through the gates will receive a bobblehead doll of Cincinnati star pitcher Aroldis Chapman. The Princeton Rays accept major credit cards to ease ordering by telephone or email.  Since reserved stadium seating is involved, all seats must be reserved and paid in full by April 3 or until the bus is full, whichever happens first. BASEBALL FUNDRAISER

BLUEFIELD, Va. — The Graham High School baseball team is raising money by selling advertisement banners (3x6) to be placed along the first base fence at Graham Middle School for the upcoming season. The cost is $250 for the first year, with the price dropping to $150 for each year after that. BASKETBALL BENEFIT GAMES

PILGRIM’S KNOB, Va. — Twin Valley High School will host the first annual Legends Alumni game on Saturday, April 13. All former men and women who played basketball at Twin Valley, Garden and Whitewood high schools are encouraged to attend/participate in this event. The cost to participate is $15 each, and an insurance waiver must be signed. All proceeds will benefit the Twin Valley Basketball Boosters. It will start at 5 p.m. and last until around 9. GOLF

BASTIAN, Va. — The 27th Annual Klingensmith Cup Golf Tournament will be played on Monday, May 20 at the Wolf Creek Golf Course. The event is sponsored by Bluefield State College’s School of Engineering Technology and Computer Science. The four-person captain’s choice tourney will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch and the presentation of prizes and trophies will occur after play is completed. TAZEWELL, Va. — Signups for Tazewell Little League are taking place on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Little League field. A copy of the child’s birth certificate and insurance info are required. A late fee applies.

WELCH — The McDowell County Sports Hall of Fame will induct the undefeated Welch High School team of 1963 on May 5 at their annual banquet. CHEERLEADING

RICHLANDS, Va. — Richlands Midget Football League will host registration for cheerleaders on April 2 and April 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the Claypool Hill Mall Kids Zone, and on April 6 at the Tazewell County Airport Conference room in Cedar Bluff from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The cost is $20 for one child, $35 for two, and $50 for three. 5K RUN

BLUEFIELD — The Springin’ Fun 5K run, sponored by Avon Foundational for Woman, will be held on April 24 at 4 p.m. The cost is $20. A picnic will follow at Bluefield City Park. IAEGER — Gilbert Shotokan Karate Academy in Iaeger is offering adult karate classes on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30-9:30. PRINCETON — An adult tennis league is now being held at the Princeton Senior High School courts. Singles are held on Tuesday, with doubles on Thursday.
