Sports calendar for Tuesday, Aug. 13

— PREP SOCCER

PRINCETON — Princeton Senior High School will host the preseason Kick-a-Rama on Aug. 16-17 at the school. Among the teams involved will be boys and girls teams from Princeton, Bluefield, PikeView, Mercer Christian, Shady Spring, Oak Hill, Wyoming East and the Kings Warriors. The action will run from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 16, and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Aug. 17.

VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS

PRINCETON — Two-day tryouts for all girls interested in playing volleyball at Princeton Middle School will be held Aug. 19 and 20 from 6-8 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Participants must bring a completed sports physical, copy of insurance and birth certificate.

FOOTBALL TICKETS

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Season tickets for the Bluefield College Rams are currently available through BCRams.com or at the Bluefield College athletic offices beginning on Aug. 19. Bluefield has four games at Mitchell Stadium this season, beginning with a Sept. 21 tilt against Kentucky Christian. The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for students through 12th grade. Season ticket purchasers will receive a free Bluefield College football t-shirt. Individual tickets were $7 for adults and $3 for students through 12th grade.

BASEBALL CAMP

ATHENS — Concord University baseball team will host a one-day camp on Aug. 14 from 1-5 p.m. at Anderson Field. Cost is $75. The camp is for players 14 years old and to those athletes participating in junior college baseball. CO-ED SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

GOLF TOURNAMENTS

BLUEFIELD — Bluefield State College’s men’s basketball team will host its inaugural golf tournament, Sept. 6 at Fincastle on the Mountain. Cost per four-person team is $300, with individual player cost $75. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9:00. CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS

GLENWOOD — Glenwood Middle School will be holding a three day clinic on Aug. 12-14 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., for cheer tryouts. Before being allowed to participate, students must turn in a completed physical on an approved WVSSAC form, proof of medical insurance and a copy of state birth certificate, and must have a 2.0 average. FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

RICHLANDS, Va. — The 2nd Annual Big Blue Bash football tournament will be held on Nov. 9-10 at Ernie Hicks Stadium. Age divisions include 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u, and 12u.  Entry fee will be 175 per team, and $150 for any team after that from the same organization. There is a two-game guarantee, with a good chance for a third and fourth game. KARATE CLASSES

IAEGER — Beginner Karate classes are being taught at Gilbert Shotokan Karate Academy. Classes are for boys and girls, ages 8 and up, and will be held twice each week on Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Family rates are available in addition to individual rates.Advanced Karate classes will be taught on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30. BLUEFIELD, Va. — The Sarver Tennis Club at Sedgewood currently accepts enrollment for the 2012-2013 school term Junior Tennis Program. PRINCETON — An adult tennis league is now being held at the Princeton Senior High School courts. Singles are held on Tuesday, with doubles on Thursday.
