BLUEFIELD, Va. — The Southern West Virginia King’s Warriors, in conjunction with Bluefield College and United States Youth Futsal, is starting an indoor soccer league for boys, girls, men and women of all ages. PRINCETON — The Princeton Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registration for girls basketball ages 8-12 for grades 3-6 and boys middle school and high school basketball, ages 11-18 for grades 6-12. Fee is $35 until Feb. 9. Late registration is from Feb. 10-17 and fee is $40.
BLUEFIELD — The West Virginia ICE AAU travel basketball team will host tryouts on Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Herb Sims Youth Center at the Bluefield Parks & Recreation Department. Tryouts for 6th graders will begin at 2 p.m., with 7th graders starting at 3. All students should bring a copy of their birth certificates with them.
BLUEFIELD — The West Virginia ICE March Madness Basketball Tournament will be held on March 28-30 at the Herb Sims Youth Center and other local gymnasiums. Boys and girls divisions, grades 3-12. BLUEFIELD — The Bluefield Beavers baseball team will host a pancake breakfast at Applebees in Bluefield, Va. on Feb. 15 from 8-10 p.m. All funds will benefit the BHS baseball program.
PRINCETON — The Princeton Rays will host a Major League Baseball bus trip on April 12 at Cincinnati’s Great American Ballpark with the Reds hosting Tampa Bay at 1:10 p.m. The cost is $105 per person, which includes transportation fees and game ticket. The first 20,000 people through the gates at that game will receive a Cincinnati Reds fleece blanket. The bus will leave at 6 a.m., and return after the game. All payments must be made by Feb. 28. PRINCETON — Greater Princeton Little League baseball and softball signups begin Saturday Feb. 15 and Sunday Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and take place the next three weekends during that time period for ages 4-15. CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — The 1 “Dog” ARod 5K Run/Walk will be held on Feb. 22 starting at the Town Square in Cedar Bluff. The registration starts at 9 a.m., with the race begining at 10. There is a “Dog Sled” class, in which runners and walkers can be accompanied by their dogs, and a “Runner” class without pets. Prizes will go to the top 3 overall runners, and the top 3 in each of 10 age groups for men and women. The cost is $25 for 5K before Feb. 12, and $30 from Feb. 13-22. PRINCETON — The 2nd Annual Sam White 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, May 3, beginning at 8 a.m. at Burke Memorial Baptist Church.
Benefiting the Sam White Family Foundation and the Tiger Athletic Foundation, the cost is $25 for pre-registration or $35 on the day of the race. Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female winners, along with the top three runners in five different age groups. The first $1,000 raised will fund a scholarship for a PSHS student, and the remainder will go toward a college fund for White’s children.
