Luck favors W.Va. Powerball jackpot winner again

MARTINSBURG — Lady Luck has favored Powerball jackpot winner W. Randy Smith again.

The West Virginia man is among 62 people who won $2,782.50 in the Florida Lotto’s April 12 drawing. He matched five of the six winning numbers.

Smith tells The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown, Maryland, that he bought the ticket while on a family vacation in Florida.

He won a $79 million Powerball jackpot in 2010. He chose the $44 million cash option and pocketed $30 million after taxes.

Smith says he likes his chances to win a third time. If he wins another lottery prize, he says he hopes he can share it with somebody.

He has made donations to a variety of organizations and projects, including about $2 million for a public recreation center in Inwood.
