SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. —
A California man proved he was no Santa Claus when trying to escape from authorities.
A police spokesperson told the San Francisco Chronicle an unnamed 33-year-old man attempted to hide from police by stuffing himself into the chimney of his apartment in the Pacific Heights section of San Francisco. Neighbors heard the man screaming for help and called the local fire department to free him.
It took an hour and the removal of several bricks before police and fire officials could pry the man from the chimney. The man was taken to the San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for cuts and scrapes he had sustained while trapped in the chimney.
Police officials have not said if any charges are pending.
