GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio - McKenzie Acierno's stomach hurt so bad she told her husband it felt like she was having a baby.
And, to her great surprise, that's exactly what she had Sunday morning in this northeast Ohio village, with the help of a local police officer who responded to an emergency call at the family home.
"I had no idea I was pregnant," said Acierno. "I had no side effects, no morning sickeness or anything. Suddenly there was a lot of pain and then there was a baby."
Husband Mike Acierno said he was "in shock for a little while" but happy that the full-term 6-pound, 14-ounce baby girl emerged kicking and healthy.
Rookie officer Sandy Davis, who responded to the couple's 911 call, said she didn't realize she would assist in the delivery of a baby.
"This is definitely one of the most exciting things that has happened on one of my shifts," said Davis. "To make it even better, it was a completely happy ending."
