- — DANVERS, Mass. — Weddings are memorable, but one at the Danversport Yacht Club will be recalled for all the wrong reasons.
The mother of the groom ended up in handcuffs, another young woman was also arrested, and the groom may be facing assault charges, police said.
Danvers police were called to the function hall just after midnight Sunday for a report of a "groom out of control," according to a police report.
The groom was described as "irate" when a bartender refused to serve a customer.
That ultimately led to a fight between the newly married man and his brother-in-law, who was trying to calm the situation.
Moments later, the mothers of the bride and groom, started shouting at each other.
Authorities said the groom could face assault charges at a future court hearing.
