Nineteen cats found in one apartment in Charleston are looking for homes.
The felines were found Thursday at an Elm Street address on the city’s West Side, prompting the city animal control office to call the situation the “Nightmare on Elm Street,” a popular horror film.
City Humane Officer Thaddeous Boggess told the Daily Mail (http://bit.ly/1euHF3h ) the cats were found in the top floor apartment, a one-bedroom residence that housed three people. He called the conditions deplorable.
City Building Commissioner Tony Harmon said the building was condemned.
The Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association shelter said most of the cats were showing signs of illness.
