Man pretending to be a police officer pulls over a real police officer

UPPER MARLBORO, Md — A Maryland man is in jail on charges of impersonating a police officer after he attempted a traffic stop on an actual cop.

According to the Washington Post, Anthony Kenneth Mastrogiovanni, 29, of Crofton, Md., was driving southbound on Route 301 in Prince George County, Md. Wednesday when he attempted to pull over an off-duty Capitol Heights, Md. police officer driving in his personal vehicle.

Mastrogiovanni activated police lights installed on the windshield of his white pick-up truck and pulled over the officer, according to the Post. When he approached the officer’s vehicle, Mastrogiovanni told the officer he was a military police man from Louisiana and was arresting the officer for speeding, the Post said.

The Post said the officer not only informed Mastrogiovanni that he had no jurisdiction in Maryland but that the red and blue lights on his truck were against Maryland law.
