Globally-known pros to participate in Greenbrier Tennis Classic

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Hall of Famers John McEnroe and Pete Sampras will participate in The Greenbrier Champions Tennis Classic for the third consecutive year.

The West Virginia resort announced Thursday that Tommy Haas will return for his second visit in September, and Andy Roddick will make his first appearance in the exhibition tournament that made its debut in 2012. Combined, the four competitors have 22 career Grand Slam singles titles and nine men’s doubles titles.

This year’s event spans two days. On Sept. 20, McEnroe will square off against Haas, currently ranked 17th in the world. That match will be followed by one between Sampras and Roddick.

The following day, McEnroe and Sampras will take on Haas and Roddick in a doubles match.
