Coppinger Tourney in full swing

Beavers, 4 — Tigers, 2

The Tigers scored first when their first batter, Jeremy McCormick, hit a single and stole two bases and scored on a throwing error.

The score remained 1-0 until the fourth when Cody Wassum drove in Jacob Powell with the tying tally.

Jake Lilly and Powell followed with singles and Lilly scored on a groundout for a 3-1 lead.

The Tigers got a run back in their half of the fifth when McCormick hit a RBI single to left to scoring Jake Thornton.

The Beavers scored their fourth run on a sac fly to place the winning run.



Tazewell, 7 — Chilhowie, 3

The Tazewell Bulldogs took an early 3-0 lead before the Bulldogs added single runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Chilhowie got on the scoreboard with three runs, one in n the fourth and two more in the fifth.



Oak Hill, 12 — Graham, 6

The Graham G-Men got off to a 4-0 lead before the Red Devils rallied for four runs in the fourth to knot the score.

Oak Hill put up six runs in the bottom of fifth to go ahead 11-6 and held on for the 12-6 victory.



Richlands, 10 —

Grayson County, 9

Grayson County took an early lead at 5-3.

Richlands rallied with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Grayson County added two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh but fell one run short at 10-9.



Richlands, 8 —

Princeton, 2

The Richlands Blue Tornadoes scored all eight of their runs in the first inning, while allowing the Princeton Tigers only one run in the third and one in the sixth.



Grayson County, 19 — Bluefield, 4

The Grayson County Blue Devils put 12 runs on the board in their first three innings and held the Bluefield Beavers to four runs in the five innings that was halted due to the 10-run mercy rule.

The final two games were played at Hunnicutt Field.
