Princeton Times welcomes costumed trick-or-treaters

Princeton Times

PRINCETON — Creative costumes and sweet treats will make headlines at the Princeton Times Friday, Oct. 30.

Your Hometown Newspaper is proud to sponsor its sixth annual Trick-or-Treat at the Times, 1:30 p.m.—5:30 p.m., next Friday. The afternoon’s events and offerings will include free treats, a harvest photo shoot by award-winning photographer Eric DiNovo and free child identification finger-printing by a representative of the West Virginia State Police.

In addition, trick-or-treaters 15 and under will all be eligible to enter a free costume contest worth a $100 savings bond for the grand prize winner and $50 savings bonds for the first-place winner in each of three age categories: 0-4 years old; 5-9 years old and 10-15 years old.

Winners of the costume contest will be tabulated after the event and announced in the Friday, Nov. 6, edition of the Princeton Times. Photos of all participants who have their pictures taken will appear in a special section to print in the Nov. 6 edition.

While all the activities are free, Princeton Times Editor and General Manager Tammie Toler said parents will also be able to purchase photo prints and CDs of their trick-or-treaters.

The first 5x7 print of each child will be $5, and each additional print per child will be available at a discounted rate of $2 per photo.

Toler said the event offers local youngsters either an alternative or addition to traditional trick-or-treating and provides a chance for the hometown newspaper to connect with the community it serves.

“We always have such a great time, checking out all the amazing costumes, playing with the kids and chatting with families. There are a lot of families we’ve really bonded with over the years, and we’re always happy to see them come back each year. We invite everyone to stop by the Times office for some treats,” Toler said.

The Times staff really gets into the spirit of the event, too, dressing in costume alongside the little visitors. Costumes are still in the works this week, but there have been rumors that a very famous Indian guide, a musical icon, a nurse and more could be on hand next week.

The Princeton Times office is located at 109 Thorn St., Princeton. Street-side parking is available at the front, along with spots at the side of the building and in a lot designated for the former Bailey Lumber building. Photos will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
