Times kicking off Music in the Square

PrincetonTimes

PRINCETON — The Princeton Senior High School Jazz Ensemble and Marching Band will tune up Princeton’s Town Square next Wednesday, May 21, as the Princeton Times Music in the Square Concert Series kicks off its 2008 season.

The bands, under the direction of Julie Kade, will take the stage at noon for the lunchtime show. The Jazz Ensemble is sure to have the audience swinging, while the Marching Band will perform a portion of its half-time show.

In addition to the entertainment, visitors to the show will get a chance to grab some lunch at the Town Square. Concessions for the first Music in the Square of the year will be provided by the Pam Hawkins Foundation.

Princeton Times Editor and General Manager Tammie Toler said the Music in the Square concerts will continue through each Wednesday of the summer, concluding in late August.

“We hope to see a big crowd on hand for the first Music in the Square show of the season, and for all of the performances. This is a terrific chance to catch up with friends and neighbors and support some great local talent at the same time,” Toler said. “It’s also a nice way to spend lunch out of the office.”

Audience seating will be available around the stage at Town Square, but visitors are also invited to have a seat at the picnic tables or bring their own chairs or blankets from home and pick their favorite spot on the Town Square lawn.

For more information, contact Toler at 425-2185 or ttoler@ptonline.net.
