Tazewell and Bluefield blotter May 3-5

BLUEFIELD — TAZEWELL SHERIFF

Between the dates of April 26, 2013 and May 3, 2013, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office made 58 arrests, issued 37 tickers, worked three traffic accidents, responded to 184 calls, served 386 civil papers, and supervised inmates who picked up 187 bags of trash.

MAY 3

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Officers received reports of a suspicious vehicle on Jackson Street at 1:12 a.m. Officers were unable to find the vehicle but requested extra patrol in the area.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Officers received reports of destruction of property on Princeton Avenue at 6:05 p.m. Officers filed a crash report.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Officers received reports of destruction of property on Princeton Avenue at 10:30 a.m. Officers filed an offense report.

STRAY ANIMAL: Officers received reports of a stray animal on Washington Street at 12:36 a.m. Officers filed an animal control report and transported the animal to the Mercer County Animal Street.

BREAKING AND ENTERING: Officers received reports of a breaking and entering on Goolman Lane at 2:19 p.m. Officers filed an offense report.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Officers received reports of a motor vehicle accident with no injuries on Princeton Avenue at 3:53 p.m. Officers filed a crash report, an offense report and towed two vehicles.

THEFT: Officers received reports of a theft from a vehicle on Big Laurel Highway/U.S. Route 460 at 4:27 p.m. Officers advised complainants of their options.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON: Officers received reports of a suspicious person on Ridgecrest Road at 6:16 p.m. Officers advised complainants of their options.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Officers received reports of a suspicious vehicle on Wythe Avenue at 10:59 p.m. Officers reported nothing illegal was taking place and advised complainants of their options.

MAY 4

TURN IN: Officers received reports of an owner wishing to turn in an animal on Bland Street at 1:57 p.m. Officers filed an animal control report and transported three dogs to the Mercer County Animal Shelter.

VANDALISM: Officers received reports of vandalism to a vehicle on North Mercer Street at 1:58 p.m. Officers advised complainants of their options.

SHOPLIFTER: Officers received reports of a shoplifter on Cumberland Road at 2:49 p.m. Officers filed an offense report.

FIGHT: Officers received reports of a fight with weapons on Payne Street at 7:48 p.m. Officers reported there were no weapons and advised complainants of their options.
