Mercer County Sheriff
PETIT LARCENY: A male subject reported to Dep. W.E. Rose that a gun was stolen from his vehicle parked in O&C Mobile Home Park near Bluefield.
FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE: Dep. W.E. Rose located and arrested Miranda Whittaker, 33, of Princeton, on warrants from Giles County, Va.
GRAND LARCENY: A manager with International Trucking Company near Bluefield reported several items had been stolen from the business. The case was forwarded to the detective bureau.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Dep. K.M. Saddler responded to Montcalm High School to meet a female subject who advised her ex-boyfriend had damaged her vehicle. The boyfriend allegedly used a stick to break the vehicle's windshield and broke one of the passenger side windows with a rock. Warrants are pending.
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Sgt. S.J. Cary responded to the intersection of New Hope and Moo Cow Roads in reference to a motor vehicle accident. The officer was advised that a person involved in the accident had allegedly thrown something underneath a nearby bridge. The officer located a bag of what was believed to be marijuana from a witness that had seen the subject throw something under the bridge. The driver of the vehicle allegedly advised the officer that the substance belonged to him and he had thrown it because he was "scared." John Jenkins, 31, of Narrows, Va., was arrested. Jenkins allegedly advised that he had traveled from Narrows, Va., to McDowell County to purchase the substance.
BREAKING AND ENTERING; BURGLARY: A male subject reported his all-terrain vehicle and iPad were missing from a mobile home in Roundhouse Mobile Home Park near Princeton.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Dep. G.C. Paitsel learned a window had been broken out of the Athlete's Closet located near Bluefield.
BREAKING AND ENTERING; PETIT LARCENY: A female subject reported to fireplace-like heaters were missing from her apartment on Barger Avenue in Matoaka.
FRAUDULENT USE OF ACCESS DEVICE: A male subject reported two males had used his Lowe's credit card to make unauthorized purchases. He advised he had contracted with the two males to put a fence around his property and had loaned them the cards to purchase additional supplies needed. Later, the male found the job completed but the two males denied having his card. He later learned their were additional charges on the card. The case was forwarded to the detective bureau.
BODY ATTACHMENT ORDER: John Flinchum, 50, of Bluefield, was located and arrested.
FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE: Robert Hairston, 41, of Bluefield, was located and arrested on a warrant from Tazewell County, Va.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE, SECOND OFFENSE; DRIVING SUSPENDED FOR MISCELLANEOUS, SECOND OFFENSE; RECKLESS DRIVING, SECOND OFFENSE; NO INSURANCE: Crystal Gore, 33, of Bluefield, was arrested on a warrant for the above charges.
OTHER AGENCY WARRANT; PETIT LARCENY: During a domestic disturbance call, Dep. K.M. Saddler learned Brandon McBride was wanted on a warrant from the West Virginia State Police. McBride, 24, of Princeton, was arrested.
BODY ATTACHMENT ORDER: Todd Taylor, 29, of Princeton, was located and arrested.
SHOPLIFTING: Dep. M.S. Horn responded to Walmart in reference to shoplifting. Princeton Police Department officers at the store advised that they had been approached by a witness who advised that a male and female subject had taken some meat from the store without paying. The PPD officers made contact with the suspect and learned he was wanted on warrants from the Sheriff's Department. The male subject allegedly advised the MCSD officer that it was him who had stolen the items in question and he had acted alone. The officer noted the surveillance video showed a second subject. Christopher Umberger, 51, of Bluefield, was arrested.
DOMESTIC BATTERY; DOMESTIC ASSAULT: Dep. M.S. Horn responded to Pinoak Road in the Lashmeet area in reference to a disturbance. A female subject advised that her husband had thrown her cell phone in a toilet. When she went to retrieve the item in question, the husband allegedly grabbed her by the head and shoved her head through a wall. The husband also allegedly punched the female and threatened to kill her and burn their home down. Warrants are pending.
