Aug. 15

OPEN CONTAINER: While

on patrol on Mercer Street,

Lt.T.A. Gray observed a male

subject walking with an open

container of alcohol. When

the officer approached the

subject, he allegedly

attempted to conceal the

item in his cart. Alvin Wise,

49, was cited.

BREACH OF PEACE: Lt.

T.A. Gray located a male

subject sitting on the stage of

the Dick Copeland Town

Square. Allegedly, the male

became belligerent toward

the officers when they

attempted to speak to him.

The officers observed the

odor of alcohol coming from

his person. Alvin Wise, 49,

was arrested.

POSSESSION WITH

INTENT TO DELIVER: Ptlm.

R.S. Gibson responded to

Bluefield Avenue in reference

to two male subjects

using a narcotic in a vehicle.

Upon arrival, the officer

located the vehicle and

spoke to the drivers. The officer

observed the odor of

marijuana coming from the

vehicle. One of the two male

subjects allegedly admitted

the two had been smoking

marijuana. After asking the

two to exit the vehicle, the

officer began a search due to

the odor of marijuana. The

same male who allegedly

reported smoking marijuana

claimed ownership of a backpack

in the vehicle. The officer

located a substance

believed to be marijuana and

other paraphernalia in the

backpack. The same male

reported the other male had

no idea the items were in the

vehicle. Nathan Smith, 21, of

Princeton, was arrested.

Aug. 16

PUBLIC INTOXICATION:

While acting as a court

bailiff, Ptlm. R.S. Gibson

observed an odor of alcohol

coming from a male subject

speaking with the prosecutor.

The officer observed the

male also appeared

unsteady on his feet. The

officer asked the male to exit

the court room. The male

registered a blood-alcohol

content of 0.128. Sean

McGuire, 43, of Athens, was

arrested.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY:

A male subject reported

damage to his cable box

at his residence on Beckley

Road.

GRAND LARCENY: A

male subject reported two

heat pumps had been stolen

from his business on Mercer

Street.

Aug. 17

DRIVING UNDER THE

INFLUENCE: During a routine

patrol, Ptlm. J.E. Malm

located a vehicle making an

abrupt turn on to North

Caperton Avenue. The officer

began to follow the vehicle

and realized it was traveling

at a high rate of speed. The

officer initiated a traffic stop.

The vehicle complied onefourth

of a mile later. The

male subject driving the vehicle

allegedly attempted to

exit the vehicle before being

told to remain inside.

Allegedly, when other officers

arrived, the male

appeared unsteady on his

feet and the officers

observed the odor of alcohol

on his person. The male subject

allegedly failed two of

three field sobriety tests. The

male subject registered a

blood-alcohol content of

0.077. John Lilly, 55, of

Princeton, was arrested.

Joseph Lowe, a passenger in

the vehicle was found to be

wanted on warrants from

Tazewell County.

FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE:

Gregory Bailey, 22, of

Pembroke, Va., was located

and arrested on warrants

from Giles County, Va.

BATTERY: A female subject

reported to Ptlm. J.E.

Malm that another female

had struck her during a disagreement.

Warrants are

pending.

Aug. 18

CURFEW VIOLATION:

Ptlm. J.E. Malm located two

male juveniles inside of a

vehicle with no adult supervision

and in violation of a driving

curfew.

Aug. 19

DRIVING UNDER THE

INFLUENCE WITH UNEMANCIPATED

MINOR: Ptlm.

J.E. Malm observed a vehicle

traveling toward him on

Rogers Street with only one

headlight. The officer then

began following the vehicle.

The officer observed the

vehicle's registration was

expired. The officer then initiated

a traffic stop. The vehicle

complied. Upon

approaching the vehicle, the

male subject allegedly admitted

to not having a license.

The officer observed a

female and a child inside the

vehicle as well. The officer

also observed the odor of

alcohol coming from the

male subject. Allegedly, the

male admitted to drinking

two beers and four shots earlier

that evening. The male

subject failed three field

sobriety tests. The male later

registered a preliminary

blood-alcohol content of

0.116. Later, the male registered

a blood-alcohol content

of 0.104. Michael Whitt, 34,

of Princeton, was arrested.

FAILURE TO APPEAR

(TWO COUNTS): Tremaine

Mitchell, 18, of Princeton,

was arrested on two warrants.

PETIT LARCENY: A

female subject reported a

game system she owned had

been stolen and pawned.

POSSESSION WITH

INTENT TO DISTRIBUTEHYDROMORPHONE:

While

on patrol on Higland Avenue,

Lt. T.A. Gray observed two

male subjects that appeared

to be passed out inside of a

vehicle.

Upon approaching the vehicle,

the officer spoke to one

of the males. The officer then

spoke to the other male who

was found holding $60 in

cash. Later, the officer located

two types of controlled

substances on his person

and $75 more cash. Billy

Norris, 44, of Princeton, was

arrested.
