Bluefield Daily Telegraph

PRINCETON POLICE

Nov. 14

• SHOPLIFTING: Sgt. B.R. Woodard responded to CVS Pharmacy on Stafford Drive, where a manager reported a woman took a winter cap and fled the store without paying.

Nov. 15

• DOMESTIC BATTERY: Officers responded to a physical domestic dispute on Cameo Lane. Lt. K.T. Compton and Ptlm. J.D. Halsey spoke with the alleged victim, who reported her husband grabbed her by the hair and pulled it. Mickey Hicks, 58, of Princeton, was arrested, and the victim reported she would seek a domestic violence petition in magistrate court.

• DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, PETIT LARCENY: Ptlm. J.S. Bish responded to a lot beside Princeton Storage, where a complainant reported someone broke the door glass out o f a white tractor trailer that was parked on the lot overnight. The officer contacted the vehicle owner, but it was unclear whether anything was removed at that time. Ptlm. D.B. Whited later investigated and reported the owner listed two disposable cameras stolen from the vehicle.

• DUI: Sgt. B.R. Woodard investigated a three-vehicle motor vehicle crash on Thorn Street. The officer reported the suspect told him he had just left a friend's house, where he had been drinking Jack Daniel's. Jonathan Martin, 27, of Princeton, was arrested then on a charge of driving under the influence. He later allegedly failed field sobriety testing and told officers he had taken an OxyContin and Nyquil earlier in the day.

Nov. 16

• DRIVING SUSPENDED, NO INSURANCE: While patrolling South Walker Avenue, Ptlm. J.S. Bish reported seeing a teal Thunderbird LX traveling with a defective brake light. The officer initiated a traffic stop but was called away to respond to a domestic disturbance.

• PETIT LARCENY: A man reported someone took $20 from his wallet while it was stored in a choir room at the Princeton Presbyterian Church on West Main Street. Ptlm. J.S. Bish filed the report, noting there were no suspects at the time.

• POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, DRIVING REVOKED, NO PROOF OF INSURANCE: Ptlm. D.B. Whited responded to Straley Approach, where a vehicle struck a building. Witnesses reported the driver had been traveling erratically, and Whited noted his speech was slurred. He appeared unaware of what happened to cause the incident. The man was transported to Princeton Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He allegedly reported there he had taken Loritab, Klonopin and two somas prior to the accident. Robert Clyburn, 53, of Princeton, was cited for driving revoked and no proof of insurance and notified warrants could be pending if he could not produce prescriptions for medication located inside the vehicle.

• ROBBERY: A Thornton Avenue man reported he parked his car in the garage and was walking to his front door when he reported a man was jumped by a white male estimated to be in his 30s. The man alleged the assailant pushed him to the ground and cut his back pocket so he could take his wallet. Ptlm. M.B. Gergely reported the suspect was wearing a tan jacket and had something covering his head. He also had his nose and mouth covered with something. The complainant believed the suspect fled north on Thornton Avenue. Ptlm. D.B. Whited and Lt. P.W. Hill searched the area and identified a possible suspect. The complainant, however, could not identify him as the suspect.

Nov. 17

• PETIT LARCENY: Officers investigated a gas drive-off at the Colony Center on Ingleside Road. The complainant reported two heavy-set white males pulled onto the parking lot. While one pumped gas outside, the other entered the store and looked at motor oil. The male who was inside the store then allegedly exited, and the two men left the lot without paying for the gasoline.

• DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Ptlm. J.D. Halsey responded to a destruction of property call on North Wickham Avenue. The complainant reported seeing her ex-boyfriend around her car. He allegedly fled the area when she yelled at him. Later, the woman reported discovering two of her tires had been cut and the license plate had been bent.

• PETIT LARCENY: A complainant at the BP station reported that someone in an older dark blue truck pumped $19.94 in gas and fled onto Stafford Drive without paying. Ptlm. W.M. Bradley reported officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect vehicle.

Nov. 18

• DOMESTIC BATTERY, BRANDISHING: Sgt. T.A. Gray and Ptlm. J.D. Halsey responded to Courthouse Plaza on Main Street, where a complainant reported a male running nude in the hallway on the third floor. Officers were met by a black male, who stated the subject had chased his girlfriend around with an ax and there was blood everywhere. Officers located a male standing in the doorway of the apartment in question, and he appeared to have a large laceration to his foot. Further investigation revealed the man allegedly became injured during a dispute with a woman who lived in one of the apartments. She alleged he did not strike her during the dispute, but that she did have a domestic violence protective order against him. Since the man required treatment for the laceration he allegedly sustained when he kicked his foot through a stereo cabinet, he was not arrested at the time.

• PETIT LARCENY: Ptlm. E.T. Pugh responded to Hardee's on Stafford Drive. A complainant there reported he suspected an employee stole money from a cash drawer on multiple two occasions. The officer noted warrants would be pending.

• PETIT LARCENY, DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Ptlm. E.T. Pugh responded to South Wickham Avenue, where a complainant reported someone broke the lock on his passenger-side door and stole a Sony PlayStation, several games, a flat-screen TV and a DVD player.

Nov. 19

• POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, DUI: Sgt. B.R. Woodard reported seeing a black Lincoln Mark III on Stafford Drive matching the description of a vehicle alleged to be operating erratically. The officer followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop by activating the lights on his cruiser, but the driver allegedly continued driving. The driver did stop in the lot of Virginia Hardware. Though the driver allegedly claimed at first that he had spilled a drink in his lap inside the car, causing him to drive erratically, he also allegedly reported he had consumed a few beers at Applebee's. Officers allegedly found OxyContin and Lortab in his possession. Charles Keatley, 37, of Princeton, was arrested, and officers reported his blood-alcohol level tested at .000.

• DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Ptlm. E.T. Pugh responded to First Community Bank on Mercer Street, where a complainant reported the north face of the building was damaged. Pugh reported a window appeared to have been damaged with an air rifle.

• PETIT LARCENY: Ptlm. J.S. Bish responded to Blue Flash on New Hope Road in reference to a gas drive-off. The complainant identified a woman who allegedly pumped 14 gallon of gasoline for a total of $30. The woman also allegedly entered the store, advised she did not have money to pay for the gasoline and demanded a pack of cigarettes. When the store employee denied the cigarettes, the woman allegedly fled.
