MERCER COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT



July 3

WORTHLESS CHECK: Dep. J.D. Ellison arrested Brian Keith Thomas, 35, of Princeton, on a worthless check warrant.



WORTHLESS CHECK: Dep. J.D. Ellison arrested Teresa Marie Widener, 43, of Princeton, on a worthless check warrant.



WORTHLESS CHECK: Dep. J.D. Ellison arrested David Gentry, 38, of Princeton, on a worthless check warrant.



VIOLATION OF DVP: Dep. J.D. Ellison arrested William Dailey, 28, of Princeton on a warrant for violation of a DVP.



BURGLARY/ GRAND LARCENY: Dep. C.E. Parsons investigated a burglary at a newly constructed residence on Black Oak Road. Someone cut and removed copper wiring from the residence. There are no suspects at this time.



July 4

PUBLIC INTOXICATION: Sgt. S.J. Cary received a call about an unknown subject trying to gain access to a residence in Athens. The complainant said the male, who seemed intoxicated, banged on the door asking to speak to someone who didn’t live there. The complainant told the accused this, but the accused continued banging on the door. The accused then fled on foot. Officers found the male hiding in the complainant’s vehicle. Robert Daniel Alderman, 23, of Athens, was arrested on the charge of public intoxication.



BREAKING AND ENTERING (AUTO): Dep. W.C. Wilborn investigated a breaking and entering in a parking lot near Mt. Horeb Road. The complainant said he left his vehicle in a parking lot to carpool and when he returned, he found it had been vandalized. A radar detector and a satellite radio were taken from the vehicle.



DUI; DRIVING SUSPENDED: Dep. A.M. Ballard noticed a vehicle traveling very slowly on WV Route 123. The vehicle stalled as it was trying to enter a parking lot. Ballard helped get the vehicle off the road and noticed the driver had an odor of alcohol on his breath. 911 said the driver’s license was suspended. The accused failed field sobriety tests. Bobby Lee Clyburn, 30, of Bluefield, was arrested on the charges of driving under the influence and driving suspended.



July 5

DUI; OBSTRUCTING THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC: Dep. A.M. Ballard noticed a vehicle sitting in the road on U.S. 52, blocking the northbound lane. After several minutes, he activated his siren and the vehicle pulled into a parking lot. He noticed a strong odor of alcohol from the driver who was arrested for DUI. Charles Michael Tynes, 28, of Bluefield, was arrested on the charges of driving under the influence and obstructing the flow of traffic.



DUI: Dep. J.R. Coburn went to assist an officer on a traffic stop Glenwood Park Road. The driver failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. Barron Sage, 32, of Princeton, was arrested on the charge of driving under the influence.



UNDERAGE CONSUMPTION: While assisting on a traffic stop, Dep. J.R. Coburn noticed the passenger in the vehicle was intoxicated. Kevin Andrew Murphy, 19, of Princeton, was arrested for underage consumption.



BURGLARY; PETIT LARCENY: Dep. C.E. Parsons investigated a burglary at a residence in the Quail Valley subdivision. The complainant said someone took out his air conditioner to gain entrance and then stole several items, including the air conditioner, a DVD player and a weed eater. There are no suspects.



BURGLARY; GRAND LARCENY: Dep. C.E. Parsons investigated a burglary at a residence in the Quail Valley subdivision. The unknown suspect gained entry through a garage door and took a television, a DVD player and numerous tools. Witnesses saw the suspect leave in a blue pick-up truck.



CAPIAS (X2): David Lee Freeman, 51, of Princeton, turned himself in on two capias warrants. Cpl. S.A. Sommers handled the arrest.



July 6

DUI; NO OPERATORS: Dep. A.M. Ballard noticed a vehicle traveling on U.S. Route 52 with its passenger door open. He initiated a traffic stop. The driver said the door was broken and wouldn’t close properly. Ballard noticed a can of Budweiser in the cup holder. The driver failed the field sobriety tests and was arrested. Manual Sosa Rodriguez, 51, of Tazewell, Va., was arrested on the charges of driving under the influence and no operator’s.



DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND BATTERY: Cpl. S.A. Sommers investigated a domestic at the Peekaboo Parlor. The complainant said her boyfriend was intoxicated and made to leave the bar. He punched her, choked her and threw her out of a vehicle. The complainant refused to cooperate or give a written statement.



July 7

WORTHLESS CHECK: Sgt. G.W. Woods arrested Bobbie J. White, 42, of Princeton, on a worthless check warrant.



WORTHLESS CHECK: Sgt. G.W. Woods arrested Diann Warburton, 38, of Princeton, on a worthless check warrant.



DOMESTIC BATTERY: Dep. A.M. Ballard investigated when a complainant said her boyfriend grabbed her hair and hit her in the face. She said she was unsure if she wanted to press charges and refused to complete a written statement.



GRAND LARCENY: Dep. J.R. Coburn investigated when an a Honda ATV was taken from a residence on Golden Gate Street. There are no suspects.



July 8

VIOLATION OF DVP; DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Dep. A.M. Ballard responded to a residence in Bluefield regarding a complaint. The complainant said the valve stems on passenger side of his vehicle were cut. He observed his wife and another male on the passenger side of the truck. The complainant said he had a DVP on his wife. He advised he didn’t know where she was staying at the present.



DOMESTIC ASSAULT: Cpl. S.A. Sommers investigated a domestic on Broadway Street. The complaint said the accused had ripped out a phone and threw it at her, missing her. The accused then left. Warrants were requested.
