June 19

• DUI, SIMPLE POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Ptlm. J.D. Lambert responded to numerous 911 calls of an intoxicated driver in the Princeton Community Hospital parking lot. The officer located the green Jeep Cherokee and noticed that the driver ran the red light at the intersection of 12th Street and Morrison Drive and was driving to the right of the roadway on Morrison Drive. The driver reported he had two beers, later saying he had four beers. The officer located three pills believed to be Lortab tablets in the suspect's shirt pocket. The driver, John Harman, 37, of Bluefield, allegedly failed field sobriety testing and was charged with DUI and simple possession.

• ATTEMPT TO COMMIT A FELONY, GRAND LARCENY, CONSPIRACY: Lt. K.T. Compton, Ptlm. D.A. Weatherly and Sgt. T.A. Gray responded to Valero on Rogers Street, where a possible breaking-and-entering of a vehicle was reported. The witness reported hearing a loud pop, which he believed to be glass breaking, and observed the two males “messing around” a white mustang. One of the suspects later reported breaking the rear window of the vehicle and getting inside the car. Lance Copley, 18, of Northfork, and Bryan Roney, 19, of Princeton, were arrested.

• FAILURE TO APPEAR, NO INSURANCE, NO REGISTRATION: Ptlm. C.S. Winkler reported seeing a white Lincoln Town Car run a read light at Courthouse Road and Morrison Drive. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver's operator's license was suspended in the state of Virginia and that he was wanted on a PPD warrant. Joshua House, 25, of North Tazewell, Va., and Nicholas House, 21, of North Tazewell, Va., were arrested on warrants.

• DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE: Ptlm. M.B. Gergely was patrolling West Main Street when she observed a 1982 Ford truck run a stop sign at the intersection with Karnes Street. As the officer followed the suspect, she reported the driver was swerving over the yellow line and creating a traffic hazard. The driver, William H. Tate, 37, of Princeton, refused field sobriety testing and allegedly tested over the legal limit on blood-alcohol testing. Tate was arrested.

June 20

• BREACH OF PEACE: Ptlm. J.S. Bish was conducting foot patrol on Mercer Street when he observed a male walking toward him. The officer had previously advised the man to stay off of Mercer Street during investigation into an altercation. The man allegedly continued to behave in a belligerent, uncooperative manner. Billy Hartwell, 40, of Lerona, was arrested on a breach of peace warrant.

• BREACH OF PEACE, PHYSICAL HARM: Ptlm. A.M. Buck and Ptlm. D.B. Whited responded to Sav A Lot, where an intoxicated male and female were reported creating a disturbance in the parking lot. Witnesses reported the couple was arguing, chasing a Ford truck traveling in the lot and disturbing customers entering the store. David Cecil, 38, of Princeton, and Edna Runyon, 38, of Princeton, were arrested.

June 21

• TRESPASSING: Ptlm. J.S. Bish responded to Wallace Street, where a woman reported her ex-husband was intoxicated an in her back yard. The man advised he was on hand to fix the woman's pond, but the woman reported she had a domestic violence petition filed against him. The man allegedly refused to leave. Bish issued Thomas Flanigan, 51, of Princeton, a citation for trespassing.

• FELONY POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DELIVER DIAZEPAM, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Ptlm. J.S. Bish was patrolling Mercer Street when he reported seeing a red Ford F-150 in front of Mid-town Texaco, and the driver was allegedly talking with a well-known prostitute. After the woman got into the truck and the driver pulled away, Bish initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Trent and Harrison streets. During a search, the officer reported finding a derringer firearm, an Advil bottle containing diazepam and several envelopes of cash. Maurie Farmer, 52, of Princeton, was arrested.

June 22

• FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR DRIVING SUSPENDED, IMPROPER REGISTRATION: Sabrina Roles, 30, of Princeton, turned herself in on warrants for the listed charges. Sgt. T.A. Gray arrested her and filed the report.

June 23

• SHOPLIFTING: Officers responded to Rose's, where a shoplifter was detained in the parking lot. Witnesses reported the suspect had taken several items from the store and tried to leave in a maroon Chrysler New Yorker. Lt. P.W. Hill reported Susan Michaus, 42, of Powhatan, was cited for shoplifting.

• SHOPLIFTING, SIMPLE POSSESSION, TRUANCY: Ptlm. D.B. Whited responded to a shoplifting complaint at Midtown Texaco. The complainant described a heavyset white female suspect wearing a purple tank top. The suspect allegedly stole three bottles of Mad Dog 20/20. Sharon Lilly, 39, of Princeton, was identified as a suspect and was arrested on the listed charges. A Darvocet tablet was allegedly recovered in the suspect's possession.

June 24

• DOMESTIC BATTERY: Lt. K.T. Compton and Sgt. T.A. Gray responded to Reynolds Avenue, where a domestic disturbance was reported. The complainant reported that he and his girlfriend had argued. The complainant had a cut on his right hand and his wrist. Officers advised him to file a formal report if he wished to pursue charges.
