April 17

• ALARM: Dep. J.D. Ellison responded to an alarm call on Miller Road. The complainant said someone attempted to gain entry to the residence by breaking into a side garage door. There was visible damage to the door. There are no suspects at this time.

• TRUANCY: Dep. J.D. Ellison arrested Debbie Jennings, 46, of Montcalm, was arrested on warrants for truancy.

• TRUANCY: Dep. J.D. Ellison arrested Ramona Blankenship, 48, Bluefield, was arrested on warrants for truancy.

• DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY:Dep. J.D. Ellison responded to Simmons Rock Road to a destruction of property complaint. The complainant said a subject brought two male goats to graze on a piece of property. The subject tied one goat to her vehicle with approximately 50-foot rope. The subject was told to move the goat, but didn’t respond. A metal cabinet was later knocked over either by the goat or the subject as retaliation for being told to move the goat. No one saw the suspect causing damage. There will be no charges due to a lack of evidence.

• TRUANCY: Dep. J.D. Ellison arrested Deborah Dunford, 52, of Bramwell, on warrants for truancy.

• BURGLARY: Dep. J.R. Coburn responded to a burglary complaint on Athens Road. The complainant found his kitchen window pushed up and the screen broken out. A Playstation 2 was missing, along with his wife’s purse which contained $150 and a West Virginia ID card. Neighbors said they didn’t see anything. There is no evidence or a suspect at this time.

• PETIT LARCENY: Dep. J.R. Coburn responded a petit larceny complaint at Craven-Shires Funeral Home. The complainant said his ex-wife passed away and left all her belongings to him in her will During the viewing, the suspect took a ring off the deceased’s finger. The complainant said it belongs to him because of the will. The case will be followed up.

• BURGLARY; PETIT LARCENY: Dep. J.R. Coburn responded to a complaint on Oxley Hollow Road. The complainant said her ex-boyfriend moved out due to their breakup and called asking for a TV and DVD player he had purchased for her. She denied the request since they were gifts given to her by him. She came home and found the items missing, along with a framed picture of the two. The deputy will speak to the ex-boyfriend to resolve the matter.

April 18

• CAPIAS: Dep. J.D. Ellison arrested McKenzee Pettrey, 29, of Lashmeet, on a capias warrant.

April 19

• DOMESTIC BATTERY: Dep. W.C. Wilborn responded to a domestic battery call at an apartment on Route 52. The complainant said her husband showed up at a friend’s residence where she was and physically battered her by striking her. He shoved her to the floor, took their son and left. A warrant is pending.

• LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT; UNDERAGE CONSUMPTION: Dep. E.P. Parks responded to a vehicle crash on Rocky Branch Road. Upon arrival he learned the male and female involved fled on foot. The officer called a tow truck and followed the truck after clearing the accident scene. The tow truck stopped and the driver was talking to a female who admitted she had been in the vehicle. She panicked because she had been drinking. She refused to answer questions about the male subject. Brooke Allison Gillenwater, 20, of Princeton, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, underage consumption and obstruction.

• BREAKING AND ENTERING (AUTO):Dep. J.D. Ellison investigated a breaking and entering on Littlesburg Road. Someone removed items from a vehicle, including a cell phone and a leather jacket. There are no suspects at this time.

• DRIVING REVOKED FOR DUI; SIMPLE POSSESSION: Dep. J.D. Ellison was on road patrol in a high drug activity area. He saw a gold vehicle pull off Low Gap Road with no registration. He stopped the vehicle and issued citations to Kimberly Gilly/Pugalee, 28, no address given, for driving revoked for driving under the influence and simple possession.

April 20

• DUI (FIRST OFFENSE): Cpl. S.A. Sommers was parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot when he observed a Jeep enter the lot at a high rate of speed. He made contact with the driver. The driver smelled of alcohol, as well as the vehicle. Joshua Stephen Poorman, 27, of Princeton, failed three sobriety tests and was arrested on the charge of first offense driving under the influence.

• DUI (FIRST OFFENSE): Cpl. S.A. Sommers responded to a vehicle crash on WV Route 123. The vehicle was in the northbound lane with damage to the front. The driver had glassy eyes and his breath smelled of alcohol. He said he took his eyes off the road to answer a cell phone and hit the ditch. Bobby Russel Christian, 30, of Princeton, failed the sobriety tests and was arrested for first offense driving under the influence.

• OBSTRUCTING AN OFFICER: Dep. G.C. Paitsel responded to Wedgewood Avenue in reference to a verbal altercation. The complainant said he was having problems with his step-son. The complainant said the subject was intoxicated and asked to leave due to his belligerent attitude. The officer spoke to the suspect who agreed to leave without incident. The subject was told not to return to the residence or he would be arrested because of past problems and a pending domestic case. The complainant called five hours later and said the subject had returned and was beating on doors and yelling in an attempt to gain entry. Deputy Paitsel located and arrested Barry Allen Capps, 36, of Princeton. He was charged with obstruction.

• LEAVING THE SCENE: Dep. J.R. Coburn responded to a hit and run in Crystal. The complainant said he was traveling north on Crane Creek Road when an older model Ford Ranger backed out in the roadway from a wide spot. The officer spoke to residents who live near where the incident occurred. They said they let the subject in the Ranger make a phone call, but did not know his name. Coburn was unable to locate the vehicle.

• FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE: Cpl. J.J. Ruble arrested Deborah Kay Booker, 30, of Princeton, on a fugitive warrant out of Tazewell County.

• GRAND LARCENY; PETIT LARCENY: Sgt. S. Cary responded to Copolo’s Mobile Home Park in reference to a stolen vehicle. The complainant said someone stole a Subaru Legacy, which also had a Dewalt drill in the back. The complainant said he didn’t lock the vehicle and left the keys in the console. Two other complainants approached Cary and said someone had stolen the car stereos from their vehicles. Both of those complainants said they did not lock their vehicle.

April 21

• GRAND LARCENY: Dep. J.R. Coburn responded to Montcalm in reference to a stolen vehicle. The complainant said he owned the residence where the vehicle was parked, but didn’t live there. The tenants were in North Carolina when the vehicle was taken. No keys were left in it. There are no suspects at this time.

• BREAKING AND ENTERING: Dep. A.M. Ballard investigated a breaking and entering at Serge Diesel, located on Blue Prince Road. Someone kicked in the front door to the business and stole $2,500 in tools. There are suspects in the case.

April 22

• BREAKING AND ENTERING: Dep. A.M. Ballard responded to S&S Express to a breaking and entering, possibly in progress. Upon arrival, Ballard found a garage door to the building damaged and partially open. An employee came to work at 4 a.m. and didn’t notice any damage. It didn’t appear as if anyone made entry to the store.

• PETIT LARCENY: Dep. J.D. Ellison responded to a complaint on Coke Plant Road. The complainant advised he was out of town over the weekend and returned to find $500 missing and a pistol. After speaking with his son, the pistol returned. The case will be referred to the juvenile probation department.

April 23

• ARSON TO VEHICLE: Dep. W.C. Wilborn responded to a vehicle fire on WV Route 102. He made contact with the Bramwell Volunteer Fire Department. It was found that the fire was set intentionally, with the interior doused with gasoline and set. The owner of the vehicle didn’t make an appearance, but lives across the road. The vehicle could have been parked in the driveway in front of the residence, instead of across the road making it suspicious. The vehicle doors were not locked, enabling easy access inside. The case will continue pending contact with the complainant.

• VIOLATION OF DVP: Sgt. S.J. Cary received a call from Mercer 911 to Wedgewood Avenue of a subject violating the terms of a domestic violence petition to stay away from the residence. Cary found the accused hiding behind the complainant’s residence. The accused was extremely intoxicated. Barry Allen Capps, 36, of Princeton, was arrested for violation of a domestic violation petition.

• BATTERY: Dep. J.D. Ellison arrested Mike Casey, 54, of Princeton, on a warrant for battery.
