April 11

• BREACH OF PEACE: Capt. P.V. Powell, Ptlm. J.D. Halsey and Det. T.A. Gray responded to Straley Avenue, where an intoxicated male was reported. They reported the subject was standing at the rear of the residence. Officers attempted to speak to him, but he allegedly refused. When they asked him to leave the location, he reportedly replied, “No way, dude.” Larry Bourne, 54, of Bluefield, was arrested.

• BREACH OF PEACE: Ptlm. D.B. Whited and Ptlm. M.B. Gergely reported seeing a man walking by Town Square appearing intoxicated, with his pants unbuttoned and falling down. Officers had spoken to the man earlier in the day on an unrelated incident and ordered him to stay inside a residence. He was arrested and charged with breach of peace.

• PRESCRIPTION FRAUD, CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON: Officers responded to CVS on Stafford Drive, where employees reported possible prescription fraud. When officers arrived, Det. T.A. Gray reported the second suspect appeared to be attempting to leave the vehicle that was parked in the pharmacy drive-through. A pat-down of the suspect revealed what appeared to be a set of brass knuckles in his front pants pocket. Bobby Clyburn, 30, of Bluefield, was cited with carrying a concealed weapon. Charges were pending on the prescription fraud.

April 12

• BREACH OF PEACE: Ptlm. E.T. Pugh and Ptlm. W.M. Bradley responded to Ritchie Street, where a subject was located outside a residence and reported he had been in an altercation with his roommate. Officers reported the man was extremely belligerent and was advised to leave the residence for the night. Officers transported Gary Sanders, 18, of Princeton, to relatives' house, where he was not allowed to stay due to his intoxication.

• FAILURE TO APPEAR: Ptlm. J.D. Lambert arrested Cindy Radford, 43, of Princeton, on a failure to appear warrant from city court.

• FAILURE TO APPEAR: Ptlm. J.D. Lambert arrested Richard Underwood, 42, of Princeton, on a failure to appear warrant from city court.

• OPEN CONTAINER: Ptlm. M.B. Gergely stopped a black Pontiac after allegedly seeing it run a red light from Oakvale Road onto Thorn Street. She reported smelling alcohol in the car and finding two open Budweiser beer bottles in the black floorboard. The driver, Heather Lynn Taylor, 31, of Princeton, was cited for running the red light and open container. The car was parked at the Budget Inn, and the driver walked to a friend's house for the night.

April 13

• DUI, POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: Det. T.A. Gray reported seeing a white Toyota SUV traveling west in the direction of Brick Street. He followed the vehicle and reported seeing it cross the center line on several occasions. The driver proceeded onto South Seventh Street before stopping at Domino's Pizza. Gray spoke with the driver, who appeared cooperative, but nervous. The woman allegedly appeared intoxicated and reported she had taken cocaine earlier. Ptlm. J.D. Halsey patted the second vehicle occupant down and allegedly located a medication bottle containing Xanax and suboxone in the man's pants. Elizabeth Mills, 36, of Athens, and Thomas Shorter, 37, of Princeton, were charged.

• DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Ptlm. E.T. Pugh responded to Precast Concrete parking lot, where someone in an unknown red vehicle threw an unknown item at a complaintant’s vehicle, damaging the windshield.

• PETIT LARCENY: Ptlm. J.D. Lambert and Det. T.A. Gray responded to BP on Stafford Drive, where a complainant reported lost money. The woman reported she put $480 in the register and found $290 missing later.

• BREACH OF PEACE, OBSTRUCTING AN OFFICER: Lt. P.W. Hill and Ptlm. D.B. Whited responded to Princeton Avenue, where a woman was reported causing a disturbance. The complainant reported the woman was inside a residence yelling and trying to start a fight. The woman allegedly refused to leave the residence and continued screaming profanities. She also reportedly approached the other parties and attempted to get them to fight. Amanda Lilly, 21, of Princeton, was arrested.

April 14

• BREAKING AND ENTERING: Ptlm. J.D. Lambert and Sgt. B.R. Woodard responded to Hickman's Pharmacy, where an alarm was sounding. The pharmacy owner reset the alarm, and it sounded soon thereafter. Due to the time proximity to the last alarm, the security company did not notify authorities, and the complainant reported suspects climbed on top of the porch roof on the rear of the building, cut a hole through the plywood and entered the building through the ceiling tiles. The suspect took a variety of medications. Sgt. Det. J.W. Howell was notified and investigated the scene. The situation remained under investigation.

• FALSE INSPECTION STICKER, POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA, IMPROPER REGISTRATION: Det. T.A. Gray reported seeing a red Ford Probe pass him with what appeared to be a false inspection sticker. He stopped the vehicle and asked the driver for vehicle information. While looking for the vehicle information inside the car, Gray reported smelling marijuana and allegedly located a marijuana joint inside a cigarette pack. Michael Heaton, 25, of Lerona, was cited and released.

• ASSAULT: Sgt. B.R. Woodard responded to Mercer Street, where a complainant reported a man came up to her and stated he would “kill her dead.” She also said he cursed her and had a small stick in his hand.

• LARCENY: Capt. P.V. Powell responded to Beckley Road, where a complainant reported someone stole a metal bearing cover worth $140 that had been on the front door.

• SIMPLE POSSESSION: Officers located a vehicle suspected of transporting marijuana into Princeton on Rogers Street. Lt. P.W. Hill and Ptlm. J.D. Halsey executed the traffic stop on Thorn Street and spoke with the driver. Officers seized two bags of marijuana, weighing a combined three-fourths of an ounce. Brittany Hodges, 28, of Princeton, was cited.

• DRIVING REVOKED, STOP SIGN VIOLATION, SPEEDING, FLEEING: Ptlm. J.D. Halsey reported seeing a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo traveling west on Thorn Street with no tag lights. The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly accelerated, running off the road and passing another vehicle. Halsey caught up to the vehicle on North Fifth Street and again initiated a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly sped up again. As the driver attempted a lefthand turn, he struck a metal beam and a tree. Princeton Rescue Squad was dispatched to the scene and transported the driver for treatment. Charges were pending his release.
