March 28
• PETIT LARCENY: Ptlm. J.S. Bish responded to the parking lot shared by Rose's and Pizza Hut on Stafford Drive, where a man was reported carrying two bags of mulch reportedly stolen from Rose's. After Sgt. W.A. Peery and Bish spoke with the suspect, who agreed to take the mulch back to Rose's. A complainant also reported four bags of mulch in the Sonic parking lot. The suspect returned them to Rose's as well.
• DRIVING SUSPENDED: Ptlm. M.B. Gergely responded to a report of a possible DUI on Thorn Street and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Billy Gene Dunn, 37, of Princeton, was arrested when the officer discovered he did not have a valid driver's license.
• DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Ptlm. J.D. Halsey arrested Shawn Kanode, 22, of Princeton, after observing him involved in an altercation with another male on Mercer Street. The other man reported Kanode threw a rock at his vehicle as he passed on the street. He pulled into a lot to ask Kanode why he threw the rock, and Kanode allegedly spit in his eye, at which time, the altercation ensued.

• CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPON: Capt. P.V. Powell alerted Det. T.A. Gray and Sgt. W.A. Peery that two males were selling cigarettes on Mercer Street. As officers approached the subjects, Gray reported finding a .22-caliber revolver in one of the men's left-front pants pocket. Christopher Whittaker, 18, of Princeton, was cited for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
• DUI: Ptlm. J.S. Bish initiated a traffic stop after allegedly seeing the driver of a green Pontiac Grand Am with a headlight burned out run a stop sign at the intersection of West Street and Mercer Street. When he spoke with the driver, he allegedly told the officer he had a few drinks earlier in the evening. Ptlm. M.B. Gergely assisted to conduct field sobriety tests, which the driver allegedly failed. Joseph Keffer, 28, of Princeton, was arrested.
• DUI: Ptlm. M.B. Gergely reported seeing a gold Toyota Camry swerve over the yellow line at a slow rate of speed on West Main Street. The driver allegedly smelled of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. Joey Voiers, 39, of Beckley, was charged with DUI.
• DUI, UNDERAGE CONSUMPTION: Ptlm. M.B. Gergely stopped a green Ford Escort after allegedly seeing it swerve over the white line on the side of the road twice on Stafford Drive. The officer reported the driver registered a 0.91 blood-alcohol level, over the legal limit. Chasity Hensley, 19, of Princeton, was charged with DUI and underage consumption.
• DUI: Officers received a call of a possible intoxicated driver sitting at the drive-through at Hardee's on Stafford Drive. Ptlm. W.M. Bradley located the vehicle and reported the driver smelled of alcohol. As he asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, he allegedly staggered and had trouble keeping his balance. David Mooney, 30, of Rock, allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was charged with DUI.
• DRIVING SUSPENDED, EXPIRED REGISTRATION, SIMPLE POSSESSION: Ptlm. M.B. Gergely and Ptlm. D.B. Whited patrolled New Hope Road and reported seeing a white Toyota with expired registration and a light out. Officers initiated a traffic stop and discovered the driver's license had been suspended due to DUI. Raymond Reed Jr., 32, of Lashmeet, was cited for expired registration and simple possession and arrested on the driving suspended charge.
