Glenda Kay Smith Odum, 52, of Welch passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at the home of her parents in Welch following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 28, 1961 in Welch, she was the daughter of Grover and Margaret Smith of Welch. She was a 1980 graduate of Mount View High School, and was a former cashier at Goodson’s Super Market in Welch. She was a member of the Hemphill United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Bub” Odum. She enjoyed four wheeling and fishing with her husband.
In addition to her parents those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Darrell Smith and wife Judy of Morgantown; two sisters, Darlene Galbraith and husband Jim and Wanda Black and husband Don all of Concord, NC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Johnna and Brian Burks of Mt. Airy, NC; several nieces and nephews; and a special family member, Christina Gonzales of Welch.
Her wish was to be cremated and the family has honored her wish. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, November 18 at 11 a.m. at the Hemphill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Olen Butcher-Winfree officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Hemphill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 815, Welch, WV 24801.
