ROANOKE, Va —
Sylvia Kathleen Charles McFearin, age 73, of Rosedale, Va., died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn. She was born May 15, 1939 at Hurley, Va. and was a daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Justus Charles, both Buchanan County, Va. natives.
Mrs. McFearin was a 1958 graduate of Matewan High School. She had worked for many years as a Security Analyst Specialist for the Department of Navy in Washington, D.C. Mrs. McFearin had made her home in Rosedale, Va. for the past fourteen years and was a member of the Community Heights Baptist Church at Wardell, Va.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen McFearin; one sister, Lucille Jeanette Charles Kennedy.
Those left to cherish her memories include: Two sisters: Glendene Charles Blankenship of Rosedale, Va., Josephine Charles DeSerio and husband, George R. of Cedar Bluff, Va.; three brothers: Harold F. Charles and wife, Kathy of Pounding Mill, Va., Larry Charles and wife, Robin of Logan, W.Va., Ronnie E. Charles and wife, Judy of Pounding Mill, Va. Several other family members and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Sylvia Kathleen Charles McFearin will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands, Va. with the Reverend Bill Keele officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013.
