Pauline Pearl Semonco Vannoy

PRINCETON — On January 12, 2013, Pauline Pearl Semonco Vannoy, age 87, passed away peacefully at Princeton Community Hospital in the presence of the loving care of her granddaughter, Tammy.

Pauline was born in Elkhorn, West Virginia, on August 9, 1925, to the late Mike and Pauline Hopstock  Semonco. She attended school in Elkhorn and Switchback. She resided in McDowell County until 1979. The following twenty-six years she resided in North Carolina. In 2005, she returned to West Virginia to reside at Country View Assisted Living, Peterstown. The last eleven months of her life, she was a resident of Health Care at Glenwood Park Retirement Village.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Vannoy; brother, Frank Semonco; sisters, Julia VanSutphen, Mary Shupe, and Ann Chandler; also, her son-in-law, Tommy Puckett.

Survivors include: Daughters, Wilma Puckett of Princeton, W.Va. and Gerri Mitchell and husband, Sam of Newport, N.C. Granddaughters, Julie Hooker and husband, Marcus, of Walnut Cove, N.C.; and Tammy Crews and husband, Tim, of Princeton; great-granddaughter, Lauren Brandon and husband, Craig, of Princeton; great-grandson, Daniel Kiser of Walnut Cove, N.C.; her very special sister, Margaret Ross of Enoch, Utah; and several nieces and nephews.

Honoring Pauline's wishes, she was cremated. A celebration of her life will be planned at a later date.

The honor of serving the Vannoy family has been given to the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
