HAMPTON, Va. —
Lelia Hazel Morrison Williams, age 89, went to eternal rest Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Riverside Rehabilitation Center, Hampton, Virginia. She was born August 15, 1923 in Rich Creek, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Margaret Cecil Morrison.
She retired from the nursing profession in 1982 to help raise her growing number of grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis C. Williams; sisters, Mae Candler, Bernice Woods, Mary Buckland, Dorothy Thornton, Geneva Defio and Pauline “Polly” Fox; brothers, Paul, Walter and Benjamin ”Benny” Morrison; two sons-in-law, Eugene Deaton and Mike Runyeon; and one grandson, Stacy Deaton.
Surviving are four daughters, Hazel “Sunny” Williams, Virginia “Jinny” Deaton, Ida “Boonie” Runyeon, Lorraine Dawson and son-in-law, Philip Dawson; son, David Williams and wife Cynthia Williams, eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon today (Saturday), January 12, 2013 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va. with David Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Peterstown Cemetery, Giles County, Virginia. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of the services at the funeral home, today (Saturday). The family will receive friends and loved ones at the home of Shirley Kennett, 634 A Scenic Drive, Peterstown, W.Va. immediately following the burial.
