EFFINGHAM, Ill. —
Garnet Octavie Mills, 96, of Effingham, Ill., formerly of Caretta and Kegley, died Monday, December 3, 2012 at Lakeland Health Care & Nursing in Effingham, Ill.
Garnet was born April 29, 1916, at Kegley, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary Victoria Stilwell Reid. She married Clarren Melva Mills in 1933.
Garnet was a homemaker and a devoted mother; she was a member of the Caretta United Methodist Church in Caretta, W.Va.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarren on July 1, 1984; a grandson, Brian LeRoy on July 19, 1984; four sisters, Ora Harmon, Audrey Shannon Kale, Myrtle Sanders and infant sister, Edna Carl (Topsie); along with three brothers, Ray (stillborn), Floyd and Jay W. (Bud).
Survivors include her two sons, Lee Roy (Helen) Mills of Falmouth Va., Melva Zane (Sue) Mills of Dunbar, and one daughter, Bonnie (Eric) Isom of Effingham, Ill.; one sister, Okley Mills of Kegley; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.
A service of celebration will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with her grandson, the Reverend Byron Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
