FORT MILL, S.C. —
Willard C. “Bud” Billips, of Fort Mill, S.C., passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at his residence; he was 72.
Bud was born in Bluefield, Va. on May 3, 1940 to the late Albort and Roberta Billips. After growing up in Mudfork, Va., he lived with his family for nearly 30 years in Falls Mills, Va.; upon retirement he and his wife, Sue relocated to Fort Mill, S.C. to be near his grandchildren.
Bud was a retired coal miner having worked 16 years in various coal mines in West Virginia as a continuous miner operator. Bud was a friend to many people and an accomplished woodworker and craftsman, sharing his personally hand crafted tables, clocks and quilts with friends and family he so loved.
Preceding him in death are his parents, and brothers, Lane and Albort Dallas.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Brenda Sue Vaughn Billips; daughters, Elizabeth (Jay) Stock, and Elaine (Kurt) Bauer; grandchildren, Madison and Andrew Stock, Katie and Gabrielle Bauer; brother, Elmer (Joyce) Billips of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Reba (Jim) Brown of Sebring, Fla., Ann Heath of High Point, N.C., Darlene (Anthony) Crews of Jesup, Ga., Connie Parker of Bluefield, W.Va.; and a “special” granddaughter, Amanda Whited of Bluefield, W.Va.
A funeral service will be held Monday, December 3, 2:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Mortuary, Bluefield, Va. with the Reverend Gus Anderson, officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. preceding the service. Burial will follow the service at Grandview Memory Gardens. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
