Tommy Hugh Ike Johnson, 77, of Bluefield, W.Va., died Friday, November 2, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born March 18, 1935 in Tazewell, Va., he was a son of the late Fred Johnson and Susie Paxton Johnson Burl. Mr. Johnson worked for many years at Betsy Ross Bakery and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and traveling, and he was always willing to help someone in need.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha J. Watson Johnson; two sisters, Nancy Spradlin and Camilla Brogden; and one brother, Fred Johnson.
Survivors include four children, Cynthia Johnson Matthews and husband Henry of Bluefield, W.Va., Tommy Johnson Jr. of Houston, Texas, Fred Johnson of Bluefield, W.Va., and Michael Johnson and wife Pamela of Bluefield; two sisters, Betty Joiner and Leon of Washington, D.C. and Lelia Ross Carter and Bobby of Brooklyn, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Henry “H.T.” Matthews Jr., Kevin Matthews, Tremayne Matthews, Jason Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Jordan Johnson and Mikayla Johnson; one great-grandson, Tashawn Matthews; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services conducted for Mr. Johnson.
