WYTHEVILLE, Va. —
Barry Keith Short, age 50, of Wytheville, Virginia, formerly of Elkton, Maryland passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Richlands, Virginia and was the son of Lloyd Ralph Short of Raven, Virginia and the late Beulah Emogene Messer Short.
Barry was a former clerk for Schewels Furniture Store.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Scott Short; one sister, Doris Jacqueline Short, and one brother, Johnny Short.
In addition to his father, he is survived by: His stepmother, Shirley Nadine Boyd Short of Raven, Virginia; one son: Brian Keith Short of Oakton, Maryland; two sisters: Mrs. Bobbie Rossini of Wytheville, Virginia, Pamela Darlene Tweed of Elkton, Maryland; two stepsisters: Loretta Deskins of Richmond, Virginia, Teresa Kinser of Keen Mountain, Virginia; one brother: Ralph Short, Jr. of Allen, Kentucky; good friend, Willie Nelson. A host of family and friends also survive.
A memorial service for Barry Keith Short will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Robert Short officiating. Upon the wishes of the family, Mr. Short will be cremated.
