BLUEFIELD — B. Martha Williamson, 91, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at her home.

Born in Greensburg, PA, she was the daughter of John and Ruth Clark Fannan. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, R. Russell Williamson and her son, Scott Williamson.

After attending Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where from 1942-47, she served on active duty, and from 1948-51, as a lieutenant. In 1951, she married Russell, her college sweetheart.

She moved to Bluefield in 1998, from Dayton, Ohio. She was a 50-year member of the P.E.O. sisterhood. She loved to travel, volunteered at a number of hospitals and was a member of Bland Street United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda and Janet Williamson, both of Bluefield, WV, Nancy Williamson, and husband Peter Hotz, of Santa Fe, NM, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Williamson, of Strongsville, OH; grandchildren, Craig Williamson and wife Cinthia, Lori Chandler and husband Jason, and Kathryn and Adrianna White; great-grandchildren, Konrad and Phillip Williamson, and Shannon, Erin and Ryan Chandler.

Honoring her request, her body will be cremated. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield.
