HUNTSVILLE, Ala. —
Franklin Mansfield Payne, 77, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday. Mr. Payne was born in West Virginia to Pearl Lee “PI” and Hazel Payne.
After a career with the U.S. Army, during which time he served in Vietnam, he moved to Huntsville where he worked at Redstone Arsenal until retirement. He was a huge fan of Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball.
Survivors include special friend, Ann Brazelton and her children, Jana Brazelton and Jay Brazelton, of Huntsville; sister, Laura Null; niece, Tammy Brewer and husband, Mark, of Bluefield, WV; and beloved dogs, Ming and Chen.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Franklin Payne.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville with Pastor Scott Gossett officiating. (www.laughlinservice.com)
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greater Huntsville Humane Society.
