TAZEWELL, Va. — Born September 26, 1930 in Tazewell, VA, he was a son of the late Thomas Floyd Walk and Cora Jones Walk. He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Tazewell, VA where he has served on the Church Council. Mr. Walk was Vice President with the former Acme Markets with over twenty five years employment. He was a former member of the Tazewell Jaycee Club. He loved mowing his yard, working with his roses, and loved his cats. Prince and Queenie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald W. Walk, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Bailey Walk; one son, Robert “Bob” Walk and wife, Karen, of Doran, VA; one sister, Kathleen Beavers ,of Lake Placid, FL; three grandchildren, Jordan Walk, Mia Walk Hardy and husband, Rick, and Bridget Walk; a very special great-grandson, Braydon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Main Street United Church in Tazewell, VA where a service in Celebration of his Life will be conducted at 7 PM with the Reverend Anthony Grills and The Reverend Dr. Thomas Conley officiating.

Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA where military graveside services will be conducted by members of the Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, VA and the VA National Guard Honor Team of Gate City, VA. Pallbearers will be Dave Burnette, John Santolla, Bob White, Jody Harris, Blake Warden, and Danny Coulthard. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Bailey, Jim Bailey, III, Henry Nichols, Dennis Dick, Fred Dean, Eddie McGraw, Fred McFarland, Bernard Beavers, and Jerry Galliher.  

Those planning to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA by 10:30 AM Thursday morning.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be directed to the Main Street United Methodist Church Building Fund, 315 East Main St. Tazewell, VA 24651.
