BULL CREEK — Okey M. Browning, 72, of Bull Creek, near Mohawk, WV, passed away early Friday morning, August 23, 2013, in Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Bluefield, WV, following a brief illness.

Okey was born July 7, 1941 in Hanover, WV, a son of the late Cloyd “Buster” and Rebecca “Becky” Lester Browning. He was a member of the Ikes Fork Freewill Baptist Church. He was an avid gun collector and trader and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed reminiscing about old friends from his youth especially Buford Lester and Jimmy Godfrey.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Rebecca Lynn, and an infant brother, Danny Jo.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Norma Jean Hurley Browning of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Benny “Trish” Justus of Hurley, VA, and Mrs. Chuck “Glenda” Blankenship of Long Branch, WV; three stepsons, Gorman Cline and wife Adaline of Panther, WV, Garley Cline and wife Debbie of Bull Creek, and Keith Cline and wife Drema also of Bull Creek; one special stepdaughter, Mrs. Junebug “Lisa” Bailey also of Bull Creek; two brothers, Ora Browning and wife Debbie and Jerry Dale Browning and wife Myrna; four sisters, Glenna Dunigan and husband Ron, Ruth Rife and husband Teddy, Linda Cook and husband Robert and Lorraine Lusk all of Hanover, WV; eleven grandchildren, Genell, Josh, Jason, Abigail, Lora, Monica, Ashley, Billie, Becky Jo, Kasie, and Tyler; eleven great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaden, Lauren, MaLeah, Gabrielle, Madison, Kalib, Carlee, Corey, Brooklyn, and Kolton whom he loved spending his precious time with. He is also survived by a step granddaughter, Angel, and step grandchildren, Hailey, McKenzie, Madison, Hayden, Hannah and Isaac.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 26, 2013, at 1 o’clock, with Pastor Homer Blankenship and the Reverend Clyde Endicott officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV; singers will be Emma Jean Blankenship and Larkin and Ramona Mullins. Burial will follow in the family Cemetery on Bull Creek near Mohawk, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, Sunday evening, August 25, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m.
