BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Phyllis Mae Horn, age 87, of the Mudfork community in Bluefield, VA passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Eastview Adult Care in Bluefield, VA. Born April 8, 1926 in Algoma, WV, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Kate Whittington Mitchem.
She was a member of the Stoney Ridge Assembly of God Church and loved to go to church. Mrs. Horn loved her home, enjoyed her grandchildren, and was a hard worker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reece Paul Horn; one son, Ricky Joe Horn; one sister, Helen Vaughn Billips; one brother, William Nichols, Jr. and several stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Paulette McCroskey and Sandy French and her husband, Charlie all of Abbs Valley, VA; three sons, Jimmy Horn and his wife, Brenda, Johnny Horn and his wife, Francine all of Mudfork, VA, and Reece Horn and his wife, Sharon of Edgewater, MD; one sister, Mary Combs of Townsville, SC; two brothers, Joe Nichols of Austin, TX and Robert Nichols of Norton, VA; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Reverend Carlos Hess officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Grandsons and great-grandsons: Tim Horn, Reece Horn, Jr., Austin Horn, Tanner Stanley, Kody Muncy, Randall Crouse, and Travis Crouse will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12:30 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2013.
