Phyllis Earlean Whittaker

PRINCETON — PRINCETON — Phyllis Earlean Whittaker, 73, of Princeton, died Friday, November 1, 2013 at her home. Born February 14, 1940 at Kegley, she was the daughter of the late, George Allen Lafferty and Versie Hylton Lafferty.

Mrs. Whittaker attended Full Gospel Assembly in Princeton. She cared for many elderly people in her home for many years. She enjoyed working outside with her flowers and canning. She loved her kids and her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Whittaker in January 2013; a brother, Junior Lafferty; several infant brothers and sisters; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include six children, Ted O'Dell Thomas and his wife, Patricia of Princeton, Tina Earlean Tignor and her husband, Roger of Princeton, Kathey Martin and her husband, David of Athens, Teresa Thomas of Palm Bay, Fla., Ken Whittaker of Princeton and Bernice Whittaker of Princeton; nine sisters and brothers, Shirley Taylor and her husband, Bill of Wiggens, Miss., Jackie Nodar and her husband, Ray of Clairmont, Fla., Carol Bledsoe and her husband, Charles of Winston-Salem, N.C., Betty Midyette of Jacksonville, Fla., Peggy Varnum and her husband, Jim of Weirsdale, Fla., Tim Lafferty and his wife, Sheila of Fountain Inn, S.C., Rosa Duff and her husband, Ted of Bluefield, Judy Thompson of Kellysville and Randy Lafferty of Bluefield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home with the Rev. James Coburn officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
