Marie H. Lawson, of War, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in Ocean City, MD.
She was born June 10, 1937 in West Virginia and was the daughter of the late John Henry Hall and Nannie Christian Hall. She was a 1955 graduate of Big Creek High School, and was a graduate of Concord College and Marshall University. She was a dedicated teacher, and retired from the McDowell County Board of Education having taught at Big Creek High School for 34 years. She was active in the Berwind Chapter #141 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the WV Association of Retired School Employees and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was a member of the War United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Burleigh Lawson; two sisters, Helen Thomas and Carol Griner; and a half brother, Odell Hall.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jeffrey Lawson and wife Jenean of Ocean City, MD; a sister, Lorene Berry and husband Herman of Seaford, VA; and a granddaughter, Haleigh Lawson of Princeton. Mrs. Lawson will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 28, at 11 a.m. at the War United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gus Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, VA.
The family will receive friends at the church, Sunday, October 27, from 6-8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
