JOLO — JOLO — Edgel Collins, 84, of Jolo, W.Va., passed away, Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy, Va. Edgel was born November 23, 1928 in McDowell County, W.Va. to the late, Lonza (Rans) Collins and Tilda Steele Collins.

He was a coal miner and a member of the UMWA. Edgel was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Vance Collins.

Edgel is survived by two sons, Larry Virgil Collins of Chucky, Tenn. and Terry Dean (Sheila) Collins of Jolo, W.Va. and four daughters, Shelby Jean Maxwell of Pilgrims Knob, Va., Patricia Ann (Richard) Kennedy of Cedar Bluff, Va., Geneva (Wayne) Lambert of Pounding Mill, Va. and Tenia (Charles) Vance of Jolo, W.Va.; he is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was after 5:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at the Cross View Church of Christ, State Line Ridge, Va. with services at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. rom the church, with Douglas Bowman, Roscoe Crouse, Hobert Kennedy & Alvie Baker officiating. Serving as pallbearers was Arnold Vance, Jeff Hagerman, Jeffery Craig Price, David Green, Tommy Poore, Ronald Vance, Jr. and Alex Sargent. Burial was held at the Perry Vance Cemetery, Rock Ridge, W.Va.
