On October 8, 2013, Ellen Donahue of Lashmeet was called from her earthly home to her heavenly home. Ellen was surrounded by her children during her last hours. She had been a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Ellen loved her Lord and served many years in the Matoaka Baptist Church. Her Sunday school teaching touched many lives and she hosted many church events at her home over the years. Ellen made sure that you had an open door and a hot meal waiting for you anytime you entered her home. She enjoyed her garden in the summer and her flowers.
Ellen Donahue, born September 20, 1926, was the daughter of the late Reverend Leonard McKinney and Cora Bailey McKinney. Her husband Herndon Donahue, sons Terry Allen Donahue and Michael Donahue, and grandsons, Kenneth Donahue Jr. and Terry Jesse Donahue have gone on before her.
She will be so missed by her children: Kenneth Donahue of Dover, TN, his daughter Kamela Merchant of Lashmeet and Tim Steward, Tony Donahue of TN, giving her five great-grandchildren, Linda Burdette of Lashmeet and husband Jackie, their children, Sherri Rose and husband Tony of Lashmeet, Becky Burdette of Princeton, Jackie Burdette of GA and wife Tammy, with three more great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, Betty Bailey of Lashmeet and husband Dennis, their children, Christina Elliot and husband Andy of KY, Tina Price and husband Greg of VA, and Shawn Bailey and wife Cheryl----, adding two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters, Jimmie Donahue of Princeton and wife Wanda, their children, Lori Crowe of VA and husband Jonathan, Jared Donahue of NC and wife Kelly, giving her two great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons, Joe Donahue of Camp Creek and wife Diane, with one daughter Lindsay, and two great-granddaughters, and a great-grandson, and her daughter Mae Donahue that lived and cared for her mother for the past three and half years. A service to celebrate the home going of Ellen Donahue, will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 12, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Dan Jividen and Pastor Chris Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family Friday from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.

She will be carried to her final resting place by Tim Steward, and grandsons and grandsons-in-law: Shawn, Greg Price, Andy Elliott, Jared Donahue and Jonathan Crowe.
