Nola Marie Thompson “Punk” Miller

RICHLANDS, Va. — he was born in 1927 in Richlands to the late Luther and Cora Bell Baugh Thompson. She married Basil Miller in 1949 whom preceded her in death in 1973. Marie was a member of the Richlands Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1946. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Thompson.

Those who survive her are: two daughters: Gene Harrison and husband Ted, of Roanoke, VA, Anne Webb and husband Joel of, Edmund, OK; two sons: Basil “Sam” Miller and wife Jo Ann, of Vansant, VA, Robert “Tom” Miller and wife Missy, of Richlands, VA; grandchildren: Shane Amburgey and wife Sara, of Owasso, OK, Letitia Miller, of Cedar Bluff, VA, Meridith Saunders and husband Robbin, of Edmond, OK, Tracy Webb and wife Melody, of Elizabethton, TN; six great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lauren, Aiden, Logan, Rylan and Everett; two sisters-in-law: Betty Simmons Dunn and husband Joe, of Roanoke, VA, Janet Simmons Catsonis, of Charleston, WV; two nieces, five nephews also survive along with a host of family and friends. Special caregivers were Kristen Thompson Whitt, Joan Fugate and all of those who cared for her and came to love her.

A Celebration of Life service for Nola Marie Thompson “Punk” Miller will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Richlands Presbyterian Church in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Ms. Miller will be taken to the Church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, VA. Pallbearers will be Shane Amburgey, Tracy Webb, Larry Thompson, Dave Thompson, Richard Smith and Ted Harrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Elswick, Bob Nassif, Bo Harris, Paul Lester, Gene Whitt and Joel Webb.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Richlands Presbyterian Church, P.O.
