Callie Ada Belcher

PRINCETON — Callie Ada Belcher, 92, of Glenwood Park Retirement Village, formerly of 409 Oliver Avenue in Princeton, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at her residence. Born September 4, 1921 in Oakvale she was the daughter of the late David Pete Mayberry and Dorothy Isabell Akers Mayberry.

Callie attended school at Big Springs Elementary until the 5th grade. She then attended Oakvale schools before moving to live with her sister Pearl Akers in Kegley and finished her education at Spanishburg School. She retired in 1979 from G.C. Murphy Company in Princeton with twenty-three years service. Callie was a faithful member of the Kee Street United Methodist Church in Princeton where she was a member and former secretary of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, a member and past president of the Ruth Bird Circle, and a member of the United Methodist Women.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harrison Belcher; two sisters, Nora Vada Thomason and Nannie Pearl Akers; and six brothers, Earnest, Zebrum, James M., Stuart, David P., and Clarence “C.D” Mayberry.

Survivors include one son, Robert Wayne Belcher and wife Sue of Princeton; three daughters, Dorothy A. Deeb and husband Issa of Bluefield, Barbara I. Bailey and husband Roger of Johnson City, TN, and Sharon G. White and husband Willis of Salem, VA; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and three sisters, Lillie M. Richards of Herndon, WV, Cleo I. Ulch of Lapeer, MI, and Alice Roland of Princeton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 31, 2014 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Ray Stonestreet and the Rev. Orville Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 12:00 Noon to the service hour on Monday.
