BLUEFIELD — Charles David “Dale” Stamper, 70, of Bluefield, W.Va., died Wednesday March 12, 2014 at Westwood Center in Bluefield, Va.
Born June 2, 1943 in Beckley, W.Va., he was a son of the late, Durphy Mack Stamper and Frances Powers Stamper. Mr. Stamper was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Methodist and Baptist faith. He worked as a manager for Bluefield Country Club, Holiday Inn in Bluefield, and the Princeton Elks Club. He enjoyed fishing and loved his little Yorkie, Mollie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Mack Stamper, Vernie McCoy Stamper, and Earl Ray Stamper; and one sister, Frances Virginia "Shirley" Blankenship.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Stamper of the home; daughter, Kristen Stanton of Princeton, W.Va.; step-children, Gary Stephen Beasley and wife, Sandrina of Kuwait, and Cheri Beasley English of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Jack Stamper and wife, Cookie of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Santana and Sydnee Stanton, and Aiden Lucas, all of Princeton, W.Va.; step-grandchildren, Gary Beasley II of Pittsfield, Mass., and Julia and Lindsey English of Tampa; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Stamper of Bluefield, W.Va. and Jean Stamper of Roanoke, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday March 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Boozer officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:30 until the service hour.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
