PRINCETON — Vernia Dean Webb, 87, of Princeton, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born March 10, 1927 at Beeson, she was the daughter of the late, William Walter West and Julia Ann Bowling West.
Mrs. Webb was a former employee of Maidenform in Princeton and Sam's Grocery in Matoaka. She taught ceramic classes in her shop for about 10 years. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading and traveling. She was a former member of Matoaka Baptist Church and the Lashmeet Garden Club. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton since 1984 where she was a member of Baptist Women, Sunday School and the Young At Heart. She volunteered at Princeton Community Hospital for 20 years. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Terry A. Webb in 1983; four sisters, Beulah Walker, Thelma Wiblin, Helen Dunivant and Eva Mae Beggs; and three brothers, Ralph West, George West and Roger West.
Survivors include one son, Terry Quentin Webb and his wife, Libbie of Princeton; one daughter, Judy Nicholson and her husband, Jerry of Princeton; five grandchildren, Terry Lance Webb and his wife, Tonya of Salem, Va., George Aaron Webb and his wife, Jeanne of Bristow, Va., Andrea Dawn Webb of Princeton, Lee Nicholson and his wife, Julia of Ashburn, Va. and Yvette Bowman of Princeton; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
