BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Mary Elizabeth Wimmer, 83, of 102 1/2 Norris Street, Bluefield, VA, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN. She was born July 8, 1930 in Bluefield, VA and was the daughter of the late Lee Commodore and Sallie Lera Hall Neel.
She retired from GTE, having worked as a telephone operator. She was married to her husband Luther N “Red” Wimmer for 22 years. Her love and devotion to him was so special that after his passing in 1981, she never remarried. She lived a simple life, enjoying food and fellowship with her friends, visiting her brother, and a variety of word puzzles. Mrs. Wimmer was a devout Christian and she loved her great-grandchildren with a passion.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Martha Wimmer and her companion Anthony Prillaman, Roanoke, VA. Brother, William A Neel and wife Frances, North Tazewell, VA. Granddaughter, Claire Fleming and her companion Antwain Jackson, Princeton, WV. Great-grandchildren, Nikolas Fleming, A’rya Jackson and Kylee Jackson. Special friends, Dorothy Lawson and Myra Jones.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wimmer will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with the Rev Chuck Trent officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bill Shotto, Tim Moses, Boyd Comer, Dwayne Nuckols, Michael Hunt and Ray Hall.
Friends may visit with the family from 6-9 p.m. tonight at the Dudley Memorial Mortuary, Bluefield, VA.
