Edgar Clinton Gillespie, 73, of 501 Wheeling Avenue, Bluefield, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at his home.
Born October 28, 1939 in Bluefield, W.Va., he was the son of the late Burt Gillespie and Myrtle Belcher Gillespie. Mr. Gillespie was a lifelong resident of Bluefield and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a painter by trade and loved fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie C. Gillespie of the home; one son, James Gillespie of Bluefield; stepdaughters, Cheryl Bailey and husband Jimmy of Pennsylvania, Becky Folden and husband David of Alabama, and Mary Shumaker and husband Manning of Alabama; stepson, Donnie Lockhart and wife Misty of Bramwell, W.Va.; two sisters, Bessie Simpkins and Clara Gillespie; two grandsons; one granddaughter; and 14 step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. Craig Hammond officiating.
